A simple and quick gift for Mum.
The above sample is crocheted using a 3.75 mm hook and Bendigo Woollen Mills 8 ply cotton yarn. The size is 14.5 cm diameter (5.5 inches)
Yarn: DK/8 ply yarn.
Hook: 3.75 mm

Abbreviations:
ch – chain rep - repeat
dc - double crochet sp - space
tr - treble crochet sl st - slip stitch

Instructions
Make a magic ring or ch 3, join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Round 1 ch 4 (counts as tr), tr2tog, ch 5,
[tr3tog, ch 5] rep 5 times in ring, tr3tog, end with ch 1, tr in the first tr
- total = 8 tr3tog and 8 ch-5 sp.
Round 2 ch 3 (counts as dc), 4 dc in 1 ch+1 tr-sp, ch 2,
[5 dc in next 5 ch-sp, ch 2] rep 6 times and join with sl st in the first dc
- total = 8 5-dc groups and 8 ch-2 sp.
Round 3 ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in prev round ch 3, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in the last dc of the group, ch 2, skip next 2-ch sp,
[2 dc in the first dc, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in the last dc, ch 2, skip next 2 -ch sp] rep 6 times and join with a sl st in first dc
- total = 8 7-dc groups and 8 ch-2 sp.
Round 4 ch 4 (counts as tr), tr3tog in next 3 dc, ch 7, tr4tog in the prev dc and next 3 dc, ch 7, skip next 2-ch sp,
[tr4tog in next 4 dc, ch 7, tr4tog in prev dc and the next 3 dc, ch 7] rep 6 times and join with a sl st in the first tr
